Warehousing and shipping
The degree of automation of the company's warehouse is above average compared to the remaining sector. The enterprise estimates an investment of 9 million euros in this year, apart from the 13 million euros disbursed in 2005, to finish the construction of an automatic warehouse and to improve both the juice and the wine business and new product lines, such as soups, broths, vichyssoise and fried tomatoes.
The warehouse, which will be put into operation within the next months, will have a maximum capacity of 16.000 pallets. To tackle this project, Dream Fruits engaged Siemens Dematic, a worldwide leading provider of intra-logistic systems, who has a complete catalogue of own products to satisfy every demand in the area of automated processes, flow of materials, automatic sorting and robotized warehousing.
The warehousing and shipping solutions implemented in Dream Fruits will help reduce the time of operational processes, optimise the stock, comply with time limits and control labour costs, etc. Dream Fruits worked with Siemens in close collaboration to develop tailor-made solutions for the specific business demands of the market and future strategies.
The warehouse applies the FIFO system of rotation (first in, first out) and uses the palletization system of OCME and STORK.
